Hang in there! I'm a recovering alcoholic so don't know the pain of pills precisely but I bet there are quite a few similarities.

For me, getting past that first few weeks was really important and really difficult. I had to keep surrendering and keep surrendering -- all the pain and the hurt and the shame and the pride and ego -- I just kept surrendering all that to my higher power.

And hours and days slowly went by and then I looked up and I'd made it through 2 weeks. And the way I knew, was that I had enough strength and curiosity to actually raise my eyes and head from my hunkered down position. The way I knew was that instead of looking inward and focusing on the pain, I found myself looking up and out. The way I knew that I was going to be okay was that I *was* okay.

Hang in there. Breath. Let time pass.

Hi and welcome to SR. I have come off opiates and benzos and it sucks. I am glad your here. What are you planning to do to stay clean?

Hi there! Alki here but i have one little experience with pain killers. A trip to the dentist caused me a relapse. Take these percecets(sp) for pain she said. One pill and i was like Heyyyyy this would be really good with a beer. Ended up being 3 years worth of beer and the continued pain of addiction.

So you must past the worst of the with-drawls. Did you taper/ detox? Congrats on the big progress. It gets better for sure. 7 months clean here it really does get better bro hang in.

glad you are back..

Your story is one that reminds me how the next relapse could cost years in using.

I hope that you find ways to ease the comfort to get past them once and for all and I hope that when you are done you dont ever miss them.

I find that posting here is a great way to pass the time and learn new stuff to help in the recovery process.
