Natural Highs

I think this was posted a while back. But it is always a good reminder.

Falling in love.

Laughing so hard your face hurts.

A hot shower.

No lines at the supermarket.

A special glance.

Getting mail.

Taking a drive on a pretty road.

Hearing your favorite song on the radio.

Lying in bed listening to the rain outside.

Hot towels fresh out of the dryer.

Chocolate milkshake (vanilla or strawberry).

A bubble bath.

Giggling.

The beach. (My fave!!!)

Finding a 20 dollar bill in your coat from last winter..

Laughing at yourself.

Looking into their eyes and knowing they Love you

Midnight phone calls that last for hours.

Running through sprinklers.

Laughing for absolutely no reason at all. (Another fave)
Having someone tell you that you're beautiful.

Laughing at an inside joke with FRIENDS

Accidentally overhearing someone say something nice about you.

Waking up and realizing you still have a few hours left to sleep.

Your first kiss (either the very first or with a new partner).

Making new friends or spending time with old ones that are sober.

Playing with a new puppy.

Having someone play with your hair.

Sweet dreams.

Hot chocolate.

Road trips with friends.

Swinging on swings.

Making chocolate chip cookies.

Having your friends send you homemade cookies.

Holding hands with someone you care about.

Running into an old friend and realizing that some things (good or bad) never change.

Watching the expression on someone's face as they open a much desired present from you.

Watching the sunrise.

Getting out of bed every morning and being grateful for another beautiful day.

Knowing that somebody misses you.

Getting a hug from someone you care about deeply..

Knowing you've done the right thing, no matter what other people think.

Motorcycle ride. The wind in your face.
Putting your hand out the car window and making it feel like it is flying on the air.
If not driving...put your head out the window like a puppy does and enjoy the wind in your face.

Walking along in a shadow and it starts to feel a little cool, you step from the shadow into the sun light and the warmth of the sun on your face feels so good.

On a warm night... just turning your pillow over so you feel the coolness of the other side of the pillow on your face as you fall to sleep.

Being sober so I take notice of such little pleasures in life... Now that is a high for sure.

Having my Family say they are proud of me.

Listening to my niece laugh those deep down "belly laughs"

Having my Son bring ME roses on HIS birthday

Getting ready to end a several hour long 12 Step Call and hearing that person say, "thank you, I'm ok now,I don't want a drink any longer."

Being able to look in the mirror and say,'I love you, I'm proud of who you have become."

Having someone ask you to be their Sponsor

Knowing that "This Too Shall Pass" when anything is wrong

Waking up to the sound of my kid's laughing.

Hearing older people laugh (the other day, an 80 year old guy I know snuck up on me while I was meeting with someone (I was working!) and he put me in a head-lock and wouldn't let go - man, did we laugh! Thinking about it is making me smile!

Just being able to genuinely laugh again !

Wow, such a great thread Chiy - thank you!!!

Here are some of mine:-

Finally getting to the part of a long story that you have been waiting for and kind of knew would happen.

Being inside at night when the weather is awful outside.

Being outside on a beach at night with a clear sky full of stars.

Whispering/giggling/laughing in bed at night with someone close.

Hearing a piece of music that moves you so much that you have a physical reaction to it (goosebumps/emotions/movements).

That feeling you get sometimes when you feel as if you had boundless energy and could run comfortably forever.

The feeling of freedom being in large, open spaces.

The feeling of being in a kaleidoscope in a big, busy capital city (like London, Paris, New York).

Those are just a few.
