not as big of a deal as tanho though. so like astro - praying..
i got sad sad news yesterday. one of my alanon friend's lost his girlfriend to dope. she overdosed. and died. 27 years old. a published poet/author and a painter with some acclaim. i saw her last december at an open meeting, she was trying to stay clean but really struggling with her past. gotta let go of that past?
he found her.
very painful.
more prayers.

i'm gonna go to the service on sat and i've been asked to speak. the mom of the girl called me this morning, and asked me to say a few things about how alanon helps me cope. i met her at one my first alanon meetings after my daughter crashed. she (the mom) hasn't chosen to be too involved in a program, but she and i have talked a bit about our girls.
i spend a lot of time thinking about the traditions of aa/alanon. the 11th tradition is one of my favorites. i really like the way the steps mirror the traditions. and i like the traditions, because i think the traditions keep us in check as far as our actions. soooo...i'm thinking about step 11 and tradition 11 as i prepare what i might say.
anyhooooooooooo.... we'll see.
yes, it's a let go day for this mom and dad.

my boss is being kind of d*ck about it. i gotta get a doctor's note to take off for the lower gi etc. not too happy about THAT. i mean. i'm 40 somethin' years old - and i gotta have a NOTE? i get 4 weeks vacation a year. i should have just told them i was going to the bahamas? i'm grateful that we have good health insurance. so there, i'm grateful.

This group hug started as a forum thread where people were encouraged to ms-paint themselves hugging someone. One person added themselves to someone else's picture and it just started growing. In one short week, over two hundred participants emerged to join in the hug, even some who initially hated the idea.
