Gifts of Recovery

Well Friends i am coming up on 7 months in a few days and i couldn't be more grateful and exited. April 1st i will be moving out on my own for the first time in over 2 years due to a 7 year battle with full blown alcoholism/depression. Gone are the days of isolating in my family's basement when the only relief i had was from fantasizing about death or drinking myself unconscious. I never thought i was going to be functional or happy ever again.

I just cant believe it, here i am, Actually i don't even know who this new guy is but i am liking it. I am entering uncharted waters of confidence, self esteem and peace i have never been too. Not braging but passing hope on to others that we can and do recover. I owe it all to the powers that be,step work, rehab, counseling, family for putting up with me and the support and wisdom of my fellow addicts. It was you guys that planted the seed of hope to know recovery is possible, so thanks guys. I will guard this gift of sobriety with my life.

so ah.....who is gonna help me move

Hi StayinAlive,

Thanks for the inspiring post. Almost 7 months sober, a new home, confidence, self-esteem, & peace (WOW!) - this really shows that anything is possible when you 'do whatever it takes' and continue to follow through on a strong program. Congratulations! D

That is awesome!!! I might think about helping you move if you admit that the Red Wings are better than the Canucks ...you know it is true!!!!
