can i start an A.A. meeting in my town?

I've been thinking. Their are no A.A. meetings within a 2 hours radius from where I live. If i were to get together with a few more alcoholics (through a priest maybe? i don't really know anybody local who has this condition) would it be possible for us to start a local meeting?
If I remember correctly I read in the book that as long as 2 or more alcoholics are present that's enough to call the encounter a meeting.
Just an idea for now anyway.

I don't see any reason why not! All groups have a starting point!

That's the way the whole thing started back in 1935! If you want some solid info, why not call the AA hot line? I'm sure they can advise you just how to go about it.

But, truly...all you need is a place and time. If you want to become more "official", the 12 Steps and 12 Traditions can be your blueprint for success. Good luck.

Definitely do it, Aldo! As Jersey suggested, call your local AA hotline and speak to someone at the AA Intergroup office. They will be able to advise you further. Let us know how you make out.
