A little daily inspiration is good for "what ails us"...that's why this thread is called "My Daily Dose".

We lose the fear of making decisions, great and small, as we realize that, should our choice prove wrong, we can (if we will) learn from the experience.
Bill W.

(Hmmmmmn...now that's something to ponder. The only decision I ever made that proved totally right was to quit drinking. I've made a few others that had repercussions...hope I learned something along the way.)

An exercise in humility...

The Twelve Step program is spiritual, based on action coming from love.
Martha Cleveland
Today, I'll do something good for someone and keep it a secret.

(Just finding that someone will be a challenge.)

Let Go - Let God

Archie doesn't know how to worry without getting upset.
Edith Bunker
If I have a problem today, I'll do what I can--and, I'll leave the outcome to my Higher Power.

(There are times I try to stop and ask myself, "How important is it!?!" That sometimes helps to put things in perspective...wish it worked all the time.)

I'm like Archie and don't know how to worry without getting upset. Hopefully with AA I'll learn not to be that way.

Words of Inspiration

'if' by rudyard kipling
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master,
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

Rudyard Kipling (1865-1936)

Progress, Not Perfection

The artist who aims at perfection in everything achieves it in nothing.
Eugene Delacroix
HP, help me give up trying to be perfect. Help me always to keep in mind I'm human--which means I'm not perfect.

This makes me think of the saying that goes something like, "I'm not the woman I'd like to be, but thank God I'm not the woman I used to be."

You've got to do your own growing, no matter how tall your grandfather was.
Irish Proverb
HP, help me work at growing. Help me be a person who is an important part of a group.

I'll remind myself that others' recovery also depends on my recovery. I am needed.
