......high bottoms, low bottoms, in-between bottoms....
....bottoms that are reached in a jail, in the hospital, in the morgue, at a kitchen table
.....bottoms that come only when everything is lost and bottoms that come before before anything -- except self-respect -- is lost....
.......loud bottoms, quiet bottoms, bottoms recognized only in retrospect....
....bottoms that come after 5 DUI's and bottoms reached before ever driving drunk.....
.....bottoms reached in our teens, in mid-life, in retirement...
Lots of different bottoms but all with one thing in common....We each reach our bottom only when we finally decide to stop digging and hang-up our our shovels.

I like the idea of bringing back your original post one year later. When I look at the list of all the people that answered your first post Matt I see most of them are still here and that is comforting.
The ones that reach out and answer our first post are big motivators in my opinion.
Glad things have gone and are going so well for you.

That WAS bottom for me, waking up in bed with people I had drunken sex with, didn't remember and trying to sneak out before they woke up, only to realize my car wasn't there (Oh God where did I leave it), same fears, waiting to be able to just take a blood test, who saw me leave with this person, etc. Things I would NEVER do sober. Very scary. Thanks so much to everyone hear for the nonjudgemental support. It's kept me going today, just being able to read everyone's encouraging words and posts, and being able to post myself.
awesome matt. so glad you decided to come onto this site and i was able to meet you. You are an awesome guy and true friend to me. great job on a year, do a little comparison of how your life is now to how it was way back when, bet youll notice a lot of differences.
