I Got A Sponsor and am Working Step One

As the fog lifts and things get a little clearer, I'm beginning to feel positive about 'recovery' as opposed to just quitting.
I have listened to the advice I've received and gone back to AA.
AND I have a sponsor! This is a person whom I connect with and feel comfortable with. I admire her success with sobriety and feel very confident about our budding friendship.
I am also working on step one. First time ever! I've been in and out of AA, and despite KNOWING I was an alcoholic, I don't know that I ever accepted it. So I didn't ever work the steps.
But today is day 25 and I'm seeing things a wee bit differently. I'm hopeful that I don't have to white-knuckle all of my future sobriety. I am hopeful that I will learn to have a willingness to find my problems. I am hopeful that I will be able to acknowledge them and find the courage to face them and work on them.
Bottom line, today I am hopeful....and grateful!
Tay.

thank god tay, and congratulations. I promise you this, work the steps to the best of your ability and you will not have to white knuckle it.
They don't have to be perfect, just the best that you can do with where your at in life, which believe me, will be good enough.

I can't tell you how happy this makes me

Way to go tay, I'm happy to hear you've started on your Steps!

Step 1 is the only one we need to do perfectly. The rest we do to the best of our ability.

Ditto 29a.

I'm right there with you tay. I have a sponsor, go to meetings and I am working on step one with my sponsor who I connect with. Day 26 for me and these 26 days have been much more posive because I am actually working my recovery one day at a time as opposed to just quiting.

Powerless, I used to look at the pros and cons of drinking a long time ago and they were pretty equal so I continued to drink. Today there are no pros left. My sponsor said powerlessness is when ther are no pros left and I still drink. I have nothing to gain and everything to lose and yet I still drink. Powerless.

Today I do believe I may very well be powerless.

Thank you for sharing. It is always nice to know I am not alone in this deal. :ghug3

Excellent statement......it simply and completely describes my drinking.
