Worried...

Just a quick question regarding a close friend of mine and his drug use. He likes to do usually about a gram of cocaine at night and when he's ready to get some sleep, he takes , 2 or 3 at a time, 3mg Lunesta to pass out. I'm concerned that the mixture is not the best thing in the world to do. Is my friend in serious danger by combing cocaine and Lunesta? Could it be life-threatening?

Hi and welcome

Yes it sounds like a dangerous combination, but we are not inclined to give medical advice here, only opinions. You may wish to call your local detox centre or hospital and speak to a medical professional about the risks.
In the meantime, you may wish to check out our Friends and Families section here on this forum - it's for people like you who have been affected by someone else's addiction. There are 'Stickys' on the top of each forum which also have a lot of information.

Good luck

As Rowan said, we aren't doctors so all we can offer are opinions and perspective...

A gram of coke a night certainly sounds dangerous all by itself, (not to mention expensive)... Following it up with a sedative sounds even worse... One chemical is saying "speed up, speed up!" while the other is saying "slow down, slow down!"... Imagine the tug-o-war going on inside.

I think the coke alone can be life-threatening.

Your friend needs to find his own bottom. It will probably be ugly. I think probably at this point, about all you can do it let him/her know how their behavior is affecting you -- the worry, the concern, the personality changes, (the "borrowed" money, the bleeding nose)...

How do *you* feel about your friend and what's going on?
