Red face New intro ;0)

Hi- new but reading- reading -reading -posts. I grew up in an abusive dysfunctional highly addicted (multiple) family where Denial was the reality. I'm a survivor of early childhood sexual abuse;determined to heal. I am a lesbian in a committed relationship with an addict.
I initially came to this forum for the above reasons, never realizing that I have major food issues till I stumbled upon a thread regarding abstinence of obvious sweets which caught my eye because I am a diabetic. So my own addictions would be smoking and eating. I was once upon a time, in high school addicted to pot for a year.
I am a reader, writer and artist and love my computer (enough but not too much most days ;0) ) I am politically left of center and very spiritual though not affiliated to any particular religion as religion was a part of what was once used against me in abusive ways.

Hope this on line community can make room for me because the reading I've done has inspired me. The sharing of your struggles and triumphs have already made a difference for me, so many thanks to you all.

Nice to see you here!

I have only been on this forum a short time, but have had much encouragement with my struggle to stay sober.

Welcome!

Hey falloutcity,

Welcome to SR, it's a good place full of nice folks. You mention that your partner is an addict - if you check the front page there is a forum for friends and family of addicts/alcoholics, that might be a good place to check out.

I think that addiction of all shapes and sizes is a sign or manifestation of emotional pain or deep hurt, or something like that - and this is a good place to get support for those issues.

Thanks for being so open, keep reading, and ask as many questions as you need to. I am an alcoholic with 58 Days sober, and an ex drug addict. I quit smoking over 3 months ago with the help of Allen Carr's book, and I'd highly recommend it if you want to quit smoking.

Anyway, good luck with everything and keep safe, talk soon,

ndz

Wink Wow- Thank you for your warm welcome

I have a major thing coming up in twenty minutes or so but didn't want to move along till I told each of you who responded (all together like ;0) ) how much your warmth and welcome and words mean.
I was a wreck when I signed on- I'm breathing again and smiling.
I can't say it strongly enough- every word helped. Thank you

Best
