Diving in with both feet...

Hi, all. I'm new here...nineteen days sober and feeling a little lost. I guess I didn't plan too well what exactly I would do INSTEAD of drinking and being sick all the time. Similarly, I didn't consider the possibility that my thinking wouldn't just clear right up and my health wouldn't instantly be returned to what it should be. (I know there are no doctors here--and I'm not seeking medical advice. Dietary tips could be gesticulated through a complex system of emoticons and codes, though, if anyone felt really motivated along those lines. <--Kidding.)

A few months ago, I did a medical detox at home, but relapsed pretty quickly. I don't know anyone IRL who is in recovery and only one person (other than my doctor) knows that I'm doing this. I'm remarkably adept at isolating myself.

At this point, AA is not an option I feel comfortable with, so I'm sponsorless and "winging it." Sans wings, of course.

But I made it here, and I guess this is it...I will click submit and hope for the best. Wish I had something interesting to say before I go, though...Maybe next time.

Thanks for reading/listening.

Congratulations on seeking a healthy new sober life!
You have a strong beginning ...Well done...

Relax....take a read around SR....come over to our
Alcoholism Forum if you wish.

Nutrition? Please Google for an eating plan
for hypoglycemia. I followed that in early
recovery with good results.
I also took a daily B complex....a multi vitamin
Zinc and Potassium.

Glad you are here with us...

Hi Creature - and welcome!

No medical advice here -
if we look or sound like doctors,
we're either lying,
or it's halloween!

so relax about that one.

WHat we *are* here ... is fellow addicts and alcoholics.
We DO know our way around a recovery room. Rooms.
And what we don't know - we learn right along with each other.

We support each other, help other, listen and are just 'here' in general for each other.
Please feel free to read the stickies on the tops of the forums, there's tons of information there, connections all that.

Others will be along as they pop in and out to help you feel welcome and comfortable. Congratulations on your choice of sobriety and if I can be any help ... let me know!

Thanks for the welcome CarolD, Goodnfast, and Barb Dwyer.

CarolD, I hadn't even thought about the glycemic aspect...which really doesn't say much for me since I was diagnosed as hypoglycemic quite some time ago. *d'oh*

Goodnfast, I think I just "met" three of those good people!

Barb Dwyer, thanks for the congrats and insight. I've been lurking and reading, but there's SO much to take in (and my taker-inner isn't used to functioning like a normal brain these days).

I'll keep reading and learning. Thanks again.
