Hi...newbie here, just starting recovery
Hi all. My wonderful best friend found this wonderful site for me. I'm recovering from alcohol addiction, an eating disorder, cutting, and just other coping mechanisms to deal with every day life. My last drink was this past friday, January 25, 2008.
I'm glad to be here.

Welcome to SR, Knittinggal, and congrats on your first few days! I'm new to recovery too, on day 16 without drinking, dealing with a few other compulsive/addictive behaviors. I've found a lot of great help and support here.
You might find SR's alcoholism, mental health, and eating disorder forums interesting.

Welcome
I hope you find SR as supportive and strengthening as I have. I look forward to hearing more from you. I'm only on Day 10, so I can relate to where you are. Do you have other support in recovery? AA, other treatment, friends to lean on? Don't try to go it alone.

We're glad you're here too! It is a great support. I come here every time I think I'm going to pick up. And sometimes when I don't have any worry of reaching for that drink. People get to know you and expect to see you - it kind of keeps you accountable. Plus, they offer such great encouragement. SR has saved me every single day since I quit drinking - and that is 21 days. Check out the 2 week and under forum. You'll bond with the people who are going through the same things as you are at the same time.

Thanks so much guys. I am in counseling, but other than that and my best friend, I have no other support, then again, I haven't really come out of the closet about my drinking yet. I think I'm going to fit in great here...as for AA, I have 6 kids and it's hard to get out at night or even during the day (3 are in school, 3 are home) and my dh works crazy hours.
