You will..because you have you..Never forget that..You have your beautiful spirit growing like a plant...Never forget that...sometimes it might look like the plant is weak...but it's just regaining strength, to grow just a little more!

Early in sobriety, I came home early from occasions where I just didn't fit in - and some of those were sober dances! I just felt so awkward, so stupid, without being all juiced up on the booze. It's taken time, but I actually look forward to them now, and enjoy seeing friends and spending time catching up. Hang in there - I'm glad you left. At least you are sober and safe - that's the main thing.

Rowan is right, it really does take time and it's not something you can rush.

Things will change.

You did the right thing. Time will come that you won't have to do this anymore, but for now, just walk away.

Glad you left and you're sober.

I know what you mean though. I guess it just takes time to readjust to all of that.

Thanks everybody, was feeling sorry for myself again!!!

I seem to go through stages of being down, mostly when I want to drink - I could have stayed last night but like you all say, not a good idea...

I was spending so much time weighing up the pros and cons of having a drink that I wasn't really able to concentrate on much else, so it was best all round if I removed myself from the vicinity as I probably would have drank something and that would have been the undoing of everything... :eek:
