Happy New Year!
Happy New Year!
This is my first sober New Year since I was 14. I am enjoying my sobriety
immensely! Some people suggested that I was on a "pink cloud" and that it
wouldn't last. Well, I admit that there are some days that I am going uphill all the way....but I put it in perspective and I keep climbing!
When I surrendered to my Higher Power and got my ass to meetings - I listened...and listened....and listened.....I worked the program, took on a coffee committment, made phone calls, found a temporary sponsor, cleaned house.
I use the "Trust God, clean house, help others", motto and the HALT (hungry, angry, lonely, tired) meter to help me through.
I was told before I entered AA to not take things personally, DON"T COMPARE, and pay attention to principles....NOT PERSONALITIES! Before I knew it, I had 3 months, 6 months, 9 months.....and it will be a year on Feb. 3 2008. I shared today that I really won't consider myself sober until I have a good 20 years under my belt. Some people may not understand that, but
being the rebellious, cocky drunk that I am - it makes sense to me!
I love the Fellowship, the program, the ornery old men who yell at me
and the way I feel each and every morning. I jump out of bed without a dulling hangover. I am ready to face the day....I feel alive! Work can be a drag, husband can be in a bad mood, car can break down, I can feel my feelings, speak from my heart, not dwell in my stinkin'thinkin, and move on!
My life hasn't changed - I HAVE!
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
Keep it Simple!

Way to go, I am glad you are looking forward to your first sober New Year. I bet you will find it nice to wake up the next day and:
remember what you did the night before
not have a hangover
not have to wonder who you made mad
not have to worry about where your car is since you know it is in the driveway
not look over to the other side of the bed and think, my God what or who is that
be able to eat breakfast and enjoy the food.
There are too many others to list.

Having a lovely New Years Eve here, its morning and I plan to spend time with freinds see a movie and watch the fireworks at midnight.
One day at a time here comes 2008 and I hope it brings peace to us all.
God Moves mountains for us, but we need to take a shovel!
