A few days ago I bought an 8 pack of pounders
And brought it home.
And set it down and looked at it.
And started thinking.
About everything I've learned in outpatient, at AA, and here.
Everything I've told myself. Everything I -know- for a fact about
if I drink.
And I called up a relative who drinks occasionally but is not an alcoholic
and said "hey, you want an eight back of Bud pounders? Yup, free. Only one
condition. Even if I change my mind later, don't share it with me."
And they came over and I gave it to them.
And I felt darned good about it.
Later that day I went to my mom's house and put up her outside Christmas
lights and the ones on her tree. Things I would not have done, and thus wouldn't have gotten done, if I had been drinking.
One good choice can lead to all sorts of positive things just as easily as one
bad choice can lead to all sorts of negative things.

Hang in there, everyone

hi Anodyne -
I agree. The more public I was in the beginning ... the harder I strove to stay honest.
Strove. OMG. I just said 'strove'. I don't even know for sure what it means - LOL
It was an effective means of backing up my resolve.
Have a fabulous holiday.

Strove is a good word *nodnod*
I have a goal to one day, at my home group, figure out just what exactly these
"'cissitudes of life" that the established/oldschool members occasionally bring up with
a laugh are.
