Off for a little while
I'm going away on holiday until New year (*****o!) and wont have access to a computer so just wanted to thank you all for the support and advice you have given me since I arrived in the Summer. I have no doubt that without you my recovery would never have even got started. With the exception of one stupid slip last month I havent drunk for five months now. That to me is just incredible. If someone had suggested I could achieve this last summer I would have just laughed. I am heading towards the new year in the best shape physically and mentally that I have been in 15 years. So Thank you all.
I have learned through this place that being sober isnt something that I should just DO but it is something that I must BE. It is not just the abstaining from alcohol but a whole change in mindset and approach to life that is needed for recovery and I think I am gradually getting there. Sharing in the recovery of others through this place is a large part of that.
So I wish for you and your loved ones peace and contentment over this christmas and new year and look forward to our continued recovery together in 2008

It's Been A Blessing!!
I got here in the summer too, Octo, having crashed & burned big time. I had no intention of sticking with it, was just curious. SR is now a huge part of my life and the reason (I KNOW it is) that I am sitting here typing this and not in a tavern or sucking down my 8th beer of the day here at home. Love to you, Octo, have a lovely time - just think, no hangovers or remorse or wondering what you said or did the night before. What a concept.
