So what is the meaning behind your avatar?

A subject I found interesting came up last night, that is avatar's.
I am curious about your avatar.
Why did you choose that particular one?
What does it signify to you?
What do you feel it says about you?
and any other questions or responses you can think of.

Here are my answers.
I chose this particular avatar because it is a dog that I had for 14 years. I had to put her to sleep about 4 years ago. I miss her.

To me she signifies, compassion, understanding, love, kindness, generosity, remembering to take life easy, not to take life too seriously, and most of all to treat others the way I would want to be treated.

Not real sure what it actually says about me but what I would like it to say about me is relax and don't stress the small stuff.

Thanks for any and all replies.

Judith

Mine is of the main street of a small village in Europe where my wife comes from. It's my very own Hobbiton.

Great thread Nandm, interesting , always when I have seen your avatar I get this feeling 'just relax, its ok ,there's no rush, all is well'.... and what a sweetie!....I will always miss my doggies and kitties that are no longer with me.

I chose my avatar because it represents my experiences of digging deep and finding the courage to believe and taking that leap of faith that allows us to find our wings and fly.

my avatar

I have always really liked the saying and I like to try to think I try to put it into action ... I don't always succeed but I try and seeing it reminds me to try harder.

Your Avatar will forever be the Braveheat one in my mind! I remeber you joinnig and battling through a halloween party sober. The avatar seemed appropriate somehow.

Not sure why I picked mine. When I signed up I just picked something that I thought was neutral and this struck my eye. I just havent got round to changing it yet. Kind of like it now though. It does look a bit like me

Thanks nandm - nice idea for a thread. I'll be interested to read the responses.

nadm, to me yours says "I'm at peace"
Mine to me says you can make dreams come true. It has alway been a dream of mine to get involved in the martial arts but thuoghout my life I was never in a position to stay at it. In June of 2008 I'll be testing for my black belt. I'm living my dream. Now my three kids and wife all take lessons so it has become a family thing.

Thank you. I have enjoyed reading your responses. Avatars is topic I had never really thought about until recently but I do realize that without consciously thinking I make judgements about people based on their avatar. How ridiculous of me now that I think about it as an avatar can be such a personal symbol that many times the deeper meaning behind it which is only truly known by the individual.

Great thread Nan....

I also GUILTY of changing mine often-

My mood changes and I guess I try to keep it according to my mood, which as of late this days has been happy, peaceful and serene! So I must be doing something right!

Once in awhile you may see something not so "happy up there" RUN! :rof:

I change mine all the time - just like mood swings, but nicer to look at!

Mine is just a Christmas angel in a tree to reflect the Holy season.

I love your beagles, nandm - always have! Who wouldn't love a beagle?!

I respect your right to your opinion. I posted this topic because as I stated, the subject got me thinking about the meaning behind people's avatar. No one would have had any idea that you said some very negative and mean things about my avatar if you had not just posted what you did. I appreciate you trying to work my program for me but I am perfectly capable of working it with my sponsor and HP help. Take care and have a good day

Hey jcham,

I frequently start threads asking people what their avatar or user name means - it's a good way to get newcomers involved.
Regardless of what happened between you and another member really doesn't need to be aired on this thread IMO.
