I have a joke but I'm sure I'll get slammed for it.... Q: What's the difference between drunks and alcoholics? A: Drunks don't have to go to all those meetings!

I think it's funny :-)

You're coming across as bitter and argumentative. Just saying... . I'm sure you have something worthwhile to say. Maybe another thread or approach? Laura's original post in the thread was about keeping an open mind.

I get a little cranky when new people are given advice that can kill them. I've seen it happen many times, over the last two decades. It still freaks me out that the two most controversial things in AA are the steps and the big book.

I'm confident that you won't have to worry about ever becoming recovered. All I ask is that you never try to help a real alcoholic get sober.

Dee, thanks for being a positive influence in my recovery. It's good-hearted people like you that keep me sober, along with God and AA. :ghug3

What was this thread originally about? :wtf2

Laura, thanks for a great thread. Too bad it got out of control! :sorry

Some people in recovery will never have what I want. Thank God I can take what I want and leave the rest lying on the floor.

You can't have it both ways.
You started a thread with the focus of negativity. We get back what our intentions put out. This thread has gotten dicey, lots of ego, opinion, pride, etc...
In short negative energy. Could you expect anything less..when you start with a topic such as yours? As far as I'm concerned this thread has served it's purpose-if there ever really was one.

Attention attention - you have 10 more shopping minutes before the store will be closing. Kindly collect your belongings and make your way to the checkout.

Sorry, just my humble opinion. I came to this website two years ago when I tried to quit then and that aspect of it really pi$$ed me off to where I almost didn't come back this time. I'm glad I did, but I would encourage everyone to show tolerance and keep an open mind to all programs.

Sermon over, thanks for reading.

This has nothing to do with the original post.

Fresca, You do a wonderful job of taking everyones inventory. I personally think your arrogance has made you someone who infects, rather than affects others. Time to take your own inventory.

I don't think this thread has gotten out of hand.

It's putting the theory to the test.

How much tolerance is there ? How strong is your program
if you belive in it so much ? How are you applying your program ?

and it's up to each indiviual to take their own responsiblities
to push the damn button off if it's too much for them..
in other words work you own program. Excersize your freedom
to do so...it's your computer. It's your life.

it's just a test bed or pratice of how you would act or react in your
real life situations. Obviousely we're not going to agree with everyone
in life on every topic..at home, at work or just passing.

This is the kind of advice you are warning against. Your own.

The management has kindly suggested that all participants remember Rule #62. So let's not take ourselves too seriously, eh?

I've seen it soooo many times. Folks get all excited about their program, especially at one or two years, and then tend to "write all the humanness" out of the program.

Anyway, this thread has had enough.
