hi, first step

i don't think i'm a alcoholic but cant handle drinking. i go out every weekend with different friends drinking making a fool of my self, I've lost heaps of friends because my personality has become unbearable. i'm living at home with my mother & father. my farther has a drinking problem & has a ugly personality. the things i hate about him are the things i'm starting to see coming out in my personality. would a quick fix be moving out of home?? turn off my phone or social life? etc

If you can't handle drinking, then you are an alcoholic. People who can handle drinking are not alcoholics.

Your problem is not your father or your drinking buddies. Your problem is you and that isn't going to be a quick fix my friend.

If you can stop drinking,

You will be amazed at how everything in your life gets better!

Try it for 90 days, heck, what's 90 days in a lifetime...

It looks like you are in denial...

There are nop quick fixes...

Surrender to your addiction and try sobriety...

hiya,
sorry to hear your struggle, i agree with the others too - it does look like you are in denial - i was too. I'd go out and be mad - the only diff was i'd surround myself with people that only drank like me- i was too scared to drink with ppl who didnt- because i knew they'd think i was crazy!

I think you should speak to someone over the phone on A.A or atleast stick around here and see for yourself - look for the similarities not the differences. When i did this i realised i was. You can find you local A.A. phone number on the website i think- or direct enquiries. If u chat with someone there it's confidential and they can mb advise u further. I hope u continue to seek some support and help yourself. You've done the right coming here

Welcome to SR!

I quit drinking because I detested the woman I had become.
Does that ring a bell for you?

Do let us know how you are doing...

Hi,

As others have said, there are no quick fixes.

I can't judge that you're an alcoholic, but if you can't handle drinking, it sure sounds like it.
