quit alcohol, trying to get off ativan

does anyone have any stories i can relate to so i know what to be in for. i stopped without weaning but was switched to klonopin, and am off zoloft. i was on ativan 1 mg 3 times a day for like 9 months. i have expericineced withdrawals but now have little electric shocks and mood swings among other for the past week. does anyone have anything to share to ease me and so i dont freak out during this hard time??????

You should probably check with your Dr about the Ativan stuff. Is it like a little "zap" in your head? I have had that before too but I dunno what it is. I do take a bunch of meds for depression and anxiety myself. sorry I don't know any more for ya!

Yep,

Recommend you go to your Dr with this too.

Getting off benzos can be tough. If your Dr. is clueless, find another one!

Hi, I'm fairly new so my two bits may not count but I have a serious addiction to ativan and have come off several times. I agree, you should double check with you Dr. In my experience, I have had bad mood swings and feelings of desperation and even suicide for abou two weeks after quitting and the Dr's have told me that the actual withdrawl can come and go for up to two years. Not good news but it helps to know your normal. I've found the feelings are horrible for a week and then start to lift but I used huge amounts of Ativan. Hang in there, it passes and things do get better. Hugs and good luck....
