Thanks so much everyone!!

For those who don't know, I'll share a condensed version of where I was 8 months ago.

I had way over a year clean, but got totally stressed about things I now realize I had no control over. I had money in my pocket and was in a motel where crack (my DOC) was everywhere. I planned to spend $100, then do what I was there to do (help my friend).

A week later, I was out of state (violation of probation), smoking crack. I had had my cell phone, mp3 player, CD player, all my clothes, and my $1000 laptop stolen. I was trying to get my car back from a psychotic crack-smoker who kept telling me he loved me. In truth, I could have gotten away from him earlier, but the crack kept me there. It was only after he was arrested (we'd been stopped 6 times, the cops knew I was on probation because they found my appt. card, but I never even got a ticket, thank God) that I called my dad and asked him to come get me.

I still had my car, but no gas and no money. My brakes were shot. He came and got me and I had a severe case of bronchitis, not to mention guilt and shame. I'd maxed out my credit cards and written so many bad checks, I had $750 in bounced check charges.

My dad got me out of the financial mess (as a loan) only because after I got the bronchitis, I immediately began looking for work and I also worked for him at his business. I'd lost my job, but my boss said I could work at another restaurant in the same chain, so I called a manager I knew and got a job.

I paid my dad back $1700 in 2 months, as well as rent, my car payment and my other bills. I drive 40 miles, one way, to work but I worked every chance I got.

Today, I still have money problems because of debts from years ago that I didn't take care of. But I'm working on them and have managed to get my credit score from "poor" to "good".

Life is still a struggle sometimes, but it is so much better! I get so much support from the great folks at SR, my family and friends. Today, I'm dealing with a death of a very dear uncle, but I don't want to use. For that, I am very grateful.

Hugs and prayers!

Amy
