Unhappy Last night's Halloween party...

Well, as some of you know I was going to a Halloween party last night and yes, you guessed it...

I stayed sober the whole time!!!

I really tried hard to enjoy myself without booze, but it wasn't working plus nobody was fooled I was having a good time - "are you ok?", "you're quiet tonight?", "lighten up!"

I was so pissed off at everybody asking me if I was ok, I just plain stopped trying to please everybody - I was even rude to a few persistent 'askers'...

I relaxed more as people around me were getting drunk and I ended up having a quite a good time!!! Dressed as a vampire (sorry Barb, Optimus didn't work out)!!! Sober!!!

This is a BIG step for me, really big!!! For the 1st time in a crowd of people drinking I never touched 1 drop!

But now I feel like celebrating...

Congratulations this must have been a big step for you to go to a party and not drink. As always one step at a time.

I get home from working all night and this is the first thing I have read. Congrats to you. I think it is wonderful that you were able to do that. You are a strong person for sure.

Wonderful for You!!!!!

If you can make it until the others get drunk ....then it is fun to watch. I did that one time..............we had a work training session at this Resort on top of a mountain and I sat in the lounge drinking my coke and watching everyone. The next to the top boss stayed sober too....so we had fun comparing what everyone was doing .......they certainly didn't behave like they were at work....course this was on their free time!

LOL, how to scare codies at Halloween!

Resist the urge to celebrate though. Hands up everyone who suffered from the "I've been good - I deserve a reward" syndrome? You ain't been "good" - you've taken responsibility for your condition and you're acting like a grown up....

in your vampire costume......

RK, you little devil, you!

But now I feel like celebrating...
And, you are...in the best possible way! Look at this as a "trial run"...in preparation for the real tests...Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's. One day at a time, one holiday at a time, we can do it together...strength in numbers, remember!

That was a major step. Now that we've heard what you didn't like about it, tell us what you did like about it. Tell us something that would lead us to believe that you had a good time. That is what this is all about! We want you to enjoy this experience. Congrats on your decision to stay sober.

Way to go RK! Really good going.

I didnt trust myself to go to any halloween parties this year. Not sure I could keep it together. I'm very impressed.
