my last big binge drinking was 3 straight days and I had my hubby take me to a detox. I was so sick and my heart was beating funny and blood pressure was way up.

hey Shaw -

ok then ... dang. IT's tough here because I can't 'see' you. So I try to suggest safe things ... while having to keep in mind that things might not be as they seem. But yes, years of bartending did teach me a few things about the whole hangover thng and might as well admit that detox ...is the worst hangover ever.

But it can also ...be the last.

About the boss -

When I interviewed for this job ... I was three or four days sober after a five year death binge. Shaking, yellow, black eyes, swollen ... just nasty in general. I bathed, but ... I was horrifying looking.
And had to get a job at the same time.
Literally had to sit on my hands to get through it.

So right when it's over, and we stand to leave ...
I said the the GM
(and couldn't believe I was hearing myself saying it)
"You know - sit back down ... I need to tell you something."

So she did.
And I told her.
Everything.
That I'd attempted sucide only four days before, I was a last stage alcoholic, I'd been fired from my last job ... I was going bck to AA but could nhever honestly guarantee her I'd never drink again becaus any alcoholic who says that isn't being honest....

... dood ...

... she hired me on the spot.

The moral is -

I'bve learned absolute honesty - no matter how it might hurt me ... or no matter how it might LOOK like it's going to hurt me ...
is paramount.

hey shaw - i went through the same thing a month ago....went on a 5 day binge and ended up having my roommate take me to the ER, i was having the anxiety attack massively and ended up hurting my heart a bit as apparently my blood pressure had been so high for a few days. so they gave me the meds and put me on an out-patient detox, which here in LA meant "here's your drugs to control the shakes and withdrawl and heres a list of programs you might consider...good night" and then i was on my own again! so i took the drugs and stayed in bed for like a week. fortunately i had just been laid off from work so i didn't have a boss to deal with. i agree with Barb though, worry about that sunday or monday and just focus on tonight. My thoughts and prayers are with you

Shaw ...
maybe just resolve to stick to the truth ...
and to whatevr it takes to make this your LAST hangover ...

then you can know that you don't ever EVER have to drink again.

You don't ever have to feel like this ... again.

Hi Shaw
Perhaps if you store the memory of how you feel now in your mind, and know that you never want this again you will be able to stay sober. I can still vividly remember my last hangover on October 9 and I know even though I have only been sober a short while I never want that again. Good luck in your recovery and seek medical help if you need it.

I found a sponsor at a meeting that helped me take the steps. I was willing to take them and haven't had a drink since. Praying to something I didn't believe in also helped.
