Get a new routine?
hey Vincent
I could have written this post...I'm a muso...we always drank at jams. For 15 years - twice weekly. And I was fine - more or less - for the rest of the week.
Until I wasn't.
Eventually I got so ****** up I couldn't jam anymore. Eventually I drank all day. It took me til that point for my stupid head to realise sobriety has to come before everything else, or you're just fooling yourself.
Nearly dying is a wonderfully effective way to reorganise your priorities but I don't recommend it.
If these guys are real friends they'll be cool with you being uncomfortable around booze. Booze and drugs aren't a prerequisite for music - it just seems that way.
If they're not cool, then you have to find new jamming buddies. Or you're just not ready to take the steps you need.

Vincent,
I have a feeling you are going to be just fine. The biggest problem for me in sobriety was and still is the ability to examine my own choices for sober living. You are MOST gracious in your message and I too apologize if I came on too strong.
I have had the privilege of watching people get sober by taking the DIFFICULT path and sometimes I may be too fanatical in that regard and perhaps "carry the message" like a CLUB!!
I do hope to be here to help you celebrate that first year of sobriety and all the years after.
Best of luck my friend and if I can "shove you" into sobriety just whistle.
Jon
