Welcome, if you want something bad enough you can attain it, you've come to a good place with lots of love, support and ES&H. Wishing you the best and that's a sober/clean life.

cruisy,

Alcoholics who try and try on their own to quit can get pretty frustrated and unfortunately, it leads to a feeling of hopelessness and hopelessness leads to even more progression into the disease. We, as alcoholics, are setting ourselves up for certain failure when we, beforehand, list things we are not willing to try. May I ask a question of you?

You mentioned that if you fail again, rehab will be next. Why next? Why not right now? Its the one thing you havent tried yet and everything else has failed. This disease spawns from a part of the brain that is completely seperate from the part we get willpower from. Willpower has nothing to do with it. What things, steps, plans or whatever, are different this time as compared with any other time you have tried? Nothing changes, if nothing changes. If you want it,....if you really mean it, rehab will work for you. It doesnt show you how to live a life warding off urges and cravings. It shows you how to live life without WANTING to drink. Dont let the one thing that could save you, be the next thing you try. Make it the thing you try now. Doing what you did last time,...or the time before that, or the one before that, only proved to be failure. Ill say it again,....NOTHING CHANGES,......IF NOTHING CHANGES.

Hey Cruisy,

Welcome. It took me a few kicks at the cat before I caught hold of sobriety - and by then I really wanted it.

Stick around!

Welcome to SR Cruisy 1. Lot of good folks here, keep in mind that you are not alone, there are a lot of folks here who are still struggling with alcoholism and others who have found a solution to thier drinking problem.

What have you tried?

Wow! Hello to you all,I am overwhelmed with how welcome you have all made me feel, thankyou. It's day 3 and I am fighting a tremendous battle, the longest for me ever has been 11 days. Unfortunately, when I abstain,I become very depressed, anxious, demotivated and lethargic. Half the battle is to fight the desire to end my own life and give in to the grog once and for all. I am,however, more determined than ever to achieve sobriety and I am utilising all tools available to me. This site gives me hope as I have read numerous success stories that motivate me even more. I am finding it very difficult at the moment to concentrate and feeling sick so I will sign off and catch you all a little down the track........I just had to say thankyou for your kind words and encouragement....take care..see ya
