Make or break time tomorrow My sister is taking me to a GP tomorrow, she is a nurse and has been telling me about librium to get over the DT's and come off booze. I pray it helps. She days I don't have to get a full checkup if I don't want and the GP can prescribe librium without it. |
why don't you want to get a full check up? |

Why not start off on the right foot by being completely honest, and telling the doc the truth. Try not to let fear hold you back. |
what rowan said.... i'm glad you're reaching out to your sis though... |

Good Luck, but be careful ! My experience with GPs and alcoholism is this. They gave me Valium (or a derivative) to taper with. I found that the Valium mixed quite well with Vodka ! Just detoxing is only a start. The work really begins after you detox. Do you have a plan ? They told me to go to AA nad IOP. I din't. Guess whathappened ? |

Will play this one by ear and see what the doc says, for me the major hurdle is (yet again :() the detox stage. :( Will keep you all posted how it goes. |

I was in a hospital situation when I withdrew from alcohol. I think it was librium they used for me. I didn't feel any of the withdrawal symptoms. When I was released from the hospital, I was given Ativan but don't remember the dose. When my depression was at the suicidal stage, I was admitted to a PsycWard for diagnosis of Major Depression. The Ativan was discontinued. So were the the sleeping pills. The antidepressant was increased to a theraputic dose. That was it. A long time ago so can't remember all the particulars. I am sure I would have been one sick lady if I had detoxed on my own...at that time probably dead. Each of us have a way of doing this. We can learn through our mistakes but for some it takes more time out there to finally have something click. Good luck to you and explain everything you feel to the doc....if he won't let you do the talking....maybe need to find another doc. kelsh |
Good luck hon, sobriety is sooo worth it! If you can, try be honest...that's worth it too !:) cathy31 x |
I'm glad that you are going RK, and that you have your sister! Big hugs Karen |
RK - wishing you the best :) |
Been to the doctor and prescribed librium, 30ml up to 4 times per day and to see him again on Tuesday... Felt really like sh*t ths morning, really bad had the shakes, sweats, pulse racing... Kept my appointment, fell down the stairs on the way to the docs... :( Good news though, the doc gave me a prescription; took my first dose, was quite frightened about it as I had no idea how the tablets would make me feel --- feel good though, no sign of withdrawls symptoms at all... :Dance7: Day 1, good start!!! :) |
Great start, well done!!! |
