In my humble oppinion I think it's best to know if you have any health problems sooner rather then later, that way if they is something abnormal you can monitor it and prevent it from getting worse or causing other conditions.
Be brave!!

RK I like you tried every way under the sun to get and stay sober my way and failed every time! When I knew the time had come to give up on quitting my way or die I broke down and did the following:

1. Saw a specialist on alcoholism & drug addiction who told me I needed medical detox in-patient.

2. Went to detox where they told me if I wanted a chance to stay sober I needed to go to at least 90 AA meetings in 90 days and get a sponsor.

3. Went to over 90 AA meetings in 90 days and got a sponsor, they told me if I wanted a chance to stay sober I needed to work the steps.

4. I worked the steps and was told if I wanted a chance to stay sober I needed to live the steps the best I could and work with other alcoholics.

5. Today I do live the steps the best I can and I work with other alcoholics.

I was able to get and stay sober once I was willing to do what ever it took to get and stay sober once I learned that my way did not work.

Good luck RK, I hope your way works for you this time, if it does not, keep on trying, maybe try the way millions of others have tried including me that worked even if it is not your way.

feel good though, no sign of withdrawls symptoms at all...
Of course you feel good, it's VALIUM !!!!!!

I'll warn you again. Just use it until the withdraw goes away, then get yourself into a program.

Good luck to you, and I hope you succeed in your journey to sobriety.

Thumbs up Morning everybody (I'm in the UK in case you're wondering) :D

Well, what a great sleep I had - went to bed justs after midnight and for the first time in years I slept right through to this morning!!!

What I don't what is become dependant on these tablets the doc gave me, so what I'm doing with thim is to finish the course the doc gave me, but insead of taking them every 4 hours as recommended, now that I'm over the worst and most dangerous effects of withdrawl, I am delaying taking them by an hour (as I have done this morning - was meant to take them at 8, but I feel fine so will take at 9) and so on throughout the day!!!

So, day 2 for me and I'm feeling a lot better!!! :ghug2

Doc said for me apart from withdrawal, the hard part for me will be the cravings later on - but I have a really good network of family that now realise how bad I was with my addiction and are here almost 24 hours to help me!!!

I just know in my self that this time I will beat this - although I'm certainly not taking anything for granted, as my enemy is a clever one and a powerful and dangerous one.

But he's met his match in me this time. Bring it on alcoholism. I've got new powers.

I fell a good bit too the first 10 days or so. COuldnt judge distances ... stuff like that. I think GP is making a valid point, too.

Congratulations - it DOES get better - amazingly better!
