An update! I gather from Dee a few people have been asking about me-so I thought I'd drop in and say hi! I'm doing really well, in fact-I think this is the best I've felt in over a year. I have avoided sitting at the computer because it really is a trigger for me.I used to sit here all day, everyday, when I was drinking so it's been really important for me to break that pattern and create good, new ones.Hence my absence. This may sound a little weird but I've discovered I actually have a LIFE! LOL. Drinking just numbed me from so much around me.I used to be a very active person-involved in many things, and alcohol pretty much robbed me of any interest I had in anything over the past year. I am finding myself more and more interested in the world around me.I've reconnected to my spirit(can't think of any other way to put it) and I'm simply 'doing' more.I'm catching up on things I've left hanging for over a year-the garden, some small painting projects. For the first time in ages I didn't go to the local expensive grocery store-I travelled further to a cheaper one and had planned menus for the week-instead of grabbing something mindlessly(and drunkenly) at the end of the day-every day-and resenting it. I've even accepted a small role in an upcoming play at our local drama club!I've been offered them before but never took them for fear I would forget my lines after the two bottles of wine I used to drink every day.(I can only shudder at what my performance may have been like also.Ugh) I know these sound like simple things-but truly-it's like waking up after a bad dream.I don't feel I've conquored anything-LOL and I'm sure I'll be tested many times. I accept I am and will always be, an alcoholic. But I have started to embrace my life knowing and accepting this. And it really feels good! I'll pop in and out of SR as I can.I apologise if I worried anyone. This is such a new way of living for me and I am so grateful to all of you for your inspiration and support.Much love to you all, Julesxox |
