WANTED: New Family...

REQUIREMENTS:

Must be supportive, freindly and willing to keep in contact on a regular basis (email, IM, web cam, physical visits, etc). I'm tired of the "well, I was too busy" or "well, what would the neighbors say?". Please don't continually judge me, lay guilt trips on me or accuse me of always looking for sympathy or "playing the victim card". Must not have a lack of empathy, be apathetic or unwilling to see anyone's point of view other than their own very narrow-minded one's. Must allow me my own opinion (yes, I actually have one!). Must not cram religion down my throat at every turn and regarding every issue. Must not blame me for everything and be hypocritcal (please practice what you preach before preaching it to others). Finally, I want to be able to write to you without feeling like I have to walk on pins and needles all the time and getting my head chewed off if I say the "wrong thing".

If you meet these very simple and basic criteria, I welcome you NEW dad, mom, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, etc. If not, well gee I'm sorry but you didn't pass the grade. Please PM your email address, IM name, phone, address or whatever you feel comfortable with as after 10 years of HELL I am ready to get started with my new family.

Thanks more than you could ever realize...

END RANT!

can Brother borrow a dollar

Need4Change 10-05-2007 01:04 PM

Do you have a PayPal account?. I wouldn't mind sending you a dollar (or even two) since my own brother doesn't even bother to write me anymore and hasn't in years. However, the dollar comes with strings...I want a lengthy, heart-felt and meaningful PM from this site from you (every hour on the hour) for every dollar you receive. Depending upon how we get along as brothers...this could work out pretty well and then you can start feeding me money. Send pictures too so I can see my new brother close up and get to "meet" you.

Do we have a deal?

Seems to me you've already found what you're looking for right here at good old SR!

I'm probably too old to be your sister...how about a favorite aunt? I do that one really good...just ask my nieces and nephews.

rloomer 10-05-2007 01:43 PM

Deal.

WOW I love being a big brother. Maybe I'm the little brother I don't know

Steve58 10-05-2007 01:47 PM

Hi Need4,

I share your feelings, maybe not to that extreme, but I know where your coming from. I left them by getting married, that was a dumb thing to do. How many here have done that, raise your hands...alright, how many did NOT marry to get out of the house...lol. Then I married again, hoping to have my own family, and was forced out of that. Such is the lonely life that lead me perfect this nasty habit. Now things are somewhat better, but I just have to get better myself.

Sorry, didn't mean to take up your time without submitting an offer, but much like polygamy, one family is too many!

Take care, pal, I hope things work out for you. Drinking won't make it better, just make you worse.

Can I be the insane uncle you keep locked in the basement?

Here's a tidbit for you about my experience with family. I love my brothers and my father dearly, but I can only take so much. During the holiday season my AA hall holds huge dinners on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day, the doors are open for anyone who wants to join us. So after I've made brief visits with my family, my children and I spend the rest of those days with our loving "family" in recovery. The smiles and laughs we share together on those days make them the best holidays I've ever celebrated, I look forward to them every year. Pretty cool, considering that when I sobered up almost three years ago I thought I'd be miserable and alone on the holidays.

I'll be the sister! I'm a farmer, born and bred, so I'll fit right in with you there! ( I think what GP meant by the *hint hint* is that you already have a big family right here - everyone here at SR recovering together!!) Now, as we recover, we can have tons of sober fun assigning everyone roles in our family...we already have brothers, an auntie, one insane uncle....and who knows what the rest of the cast of characters will turn out to be?!

Loomer, can I borrow that dollar???:e100: We're one big happy family!!!!!

Max.J.Milton 10-05-2007 04:57 PM

i'll be mom/sister ^-^

Rowan 10-05-2007 05:01 PM

Can I be your wealthy cousin that lives in a cottage on the property? We could hang out and go for long walks as the sun goes down and talk about life.

rloomer 10-05-2007 05:04 PM

Are you the wealthy cousin the she always wants to hang out with and little brother never gets time with?

Why don't you go home. I'm the brother It's my turn to hang out.
We're gonna have some spam by ourselves

Rowan 10-05-2007 05:07 PM

Are you willing to do the same?

cmc 10-05-2007 07:56 PM

Since I've been in Alanon recovery I must interview all prospective new family members very carefully....and make sure that it's a good deal for me! So...maybe I could be the temporary Foster sister?

nogard 10-05-2007 07:58 PM

I'll be grandad so long as you come and see me sometimes

Kevin
