I need help
We have been speaking to you of serious, sometimes tragic things. We have been dealing with alcohol in its worst aspect. But we aren't a glum lot. If newcomers could see no joy or fun in our existence, they wouldn't want it. We absolutely insist on enjoying life.

Hi everyone,
I'm new here. My drinking problem is starting to cause big problems in my life and I know I need to deal with it. I don't know where to begin really so I'll just say hi. I want to stop drinking and start dealing with my feelings in a healthy way. I just don't know how to start.
Any help/tips would be great.
thank you.

drinking is a problem. however,
it is not a "drug", contrary to what many rehab nurses say.
It does have the power to kill but not if you drink in moderation and not every day.
I would say, if you need to take the edge off your nerves, and you feel like that's all that would help, think of natural remedies, such as music, or you could drink a cup of hot tea, my favorite is celestial seasonings chamomile with valerian root. IT WORKS MIRACLES!
or. . .go for a drive, let yourself be awestruck by the simplest things in life, and value everyday you live.
just a few suggestions,
I hope everything works out for the best.
take care.

chai, I think that it is "another" drug and until you are totally off all drugs you have not gotten into total detox. IMO
If you are an alcoholic then you can't drink in moderation, IMO, but you have to determine if you are or not, but why not play it safe and stay away from it all together either way?

Thanks for the replies.
I feel really tired today. I didnt really think about it but I suppose it's part of stopping a binge. I pretty much got drunk every day last week. Sunday through Friday I got drunk every night and even drank in the day sometimes. No wonder I feel tired today
But even though I feel tired, I feel really really good. I don't feel ashamed of myself today.
