Making It!!

Hey, everyone, just thought I'd post--havent in a while(but Ive been "lurking" and reading! Been sober since July 15.Been hitting some meetings lately. Some of you know I dont completely "gel" with AA the way I'd like but I'm going with the attitude of "take what I need and leave the rest" (as they say). Things are just "status quo" with my life at the moment, but HEY,status quo is SOOO much better than the chaos and hell of actively drinking!! By the way, this forum was an essential and integral part of my first few post-relapse days in helping me pull myself together. God Bless all of you!!!

Hi Shawmac, glad to hear things are going well for you.

I think taking what you need from AA is right, I still cringe when anyone says 'god' at a meeting.

congratulations on your sober time. I too am not exactly gelling with AA but you are totally doing the right thing by taking what you need and leaving the rest...I could learn alot from you. Keep doing what you're doing...it's obviously working!

Hi ShawMac,

I'm happy to hear this!

And, status quo is good sometimes. It's not necessary for us to be moving forward every moment and sometimes pausing, and reflecting and collecting ourselves, is a good thing to do.

Glad to hear you are getting what you need to get by, I drew upon the meetings for my first 90 days but reached the point where I felt like I was spinning my wheels and working my way slowly to a relapse. I had a sponsor but he did not have time to work the steps with me.

I kept hearing folks sharing what a huge difference the steps had made for them when working them with a sponsor, I switched sponsors and started working the steps with him, what I difference, every promise in the BB has come true, I no longer fight anything in life..... including alcohol.

I kept going to meetings and working the steps until the miracle happened, I continue to go to meeting and working & living the steps to where I can share the miracle with others.
