Denial is not a river in Egypt
Denial is not a river in Egypt
This is a title of a little book I have that contains one line phrases. It's great to just pick up and read a few, some are humourous and some more serious. I also love to read the signatures at the bottom of peoples posts. So what I thought might be nice, is to make a thread where everyone could add a little quote they like? I'll start with:
"We didn't all arrive on the same ship, but we are all in the same boat"
Sax
"We didn't all arrive on the same ship, but we are all in the same boat"
Sax
lol I love that line.
and it could continue ...
Your best thinking got you here.
It's a simple road for complicated people.
I drank to get over the effects of drinking

It works if you work it.

There is a solution.
A simple program for complex people.
In order to become a winner I had to surrender.
In order to keep it you have to give it away.

this is funny, i throw aa slogans around all the time... in jest, but sometimes for real. i like let go and let god, easy does it, and i'm ok, you're ok.
i think i'm ok, you're ok is more alanon, but it works.
i heard my friend share "i don't trust my feelings. they're fleeting. my feelings f*ck with me. my feelings get me drunk." i like that, too.

Nobody ever died from lack of sleep. (words of wisdom from my first sponsor when I complained of early-sobriety insomnia...I pass it on to other newbies)
Pray for them. (words of wisdom from my first sponsor when I bit--ed about my ex and the woman he left our 25 year marriage for...I try to apply it whenever anyone pushes my buttons)

"No one has ever died from NOT taking another drink."
"We don't shoot our wounded."
TSDD (Tough Sh%$ Don't Drink)
And my favorite, for those times when I questioned whether I was an alcoholic or not: "No alcoholic wakes up in the morning and feels that their life is so perfect that they'll top it off with an AA meeting"

Why settle for relief when what you really want is freedom.
I'll add one that is near and dear to me, but rather on the negative side.
"Nothing good happens after midnight."
Unfortunately, I continually find it to be true - Especially since early early last Friday morning when my daughter caught a ride home from a party from a fellow who was driving drunk... This poor young man was killed less than an hour later when he crashed and rolled his car over several times.
