bottoms and the newbie bus?

Hi,

Could someone explain the threads like the newbie bus and bottoms, I sometimes click on them as they are allways near the top but I am not really sure what they are about, there is a few others that have (part4 or part7 etc after them) I gather they are where people post regularly but after that I am a bit confussed.

I would like to post a bit more often but sometimes I don't really have a lot to say so starting a new thread is pointless.

Thanks

Hi Saxony,

There's no mystery

You know how when you and a group of friends get together, there'll be all kind of crazy conversations all cross cutting each other ? Both those threads are like that.

Recovery's serious, sure, but sometimes you just need to unwind too you know ?

They're a place to meet - the Newbie Bus is a good place for Newbies to meet and chat about anything, not always just recovery.

Bottoms?...well, Bottoms is for idiots.
LOL if you like the sound of that, I'll see you there too.

Just don't ask me to explain anything

D

oh and the part numbers ? When a thread reaches 500 posts, the mods'll open a new one...same title, different part number

Hi Saxony,

Your post reminded me of when I was newer here, and saw threads that went on and on, and it always seemed to be the same people visiting them. I found it too intimidating to jump in myself, and wanted to talk to someone, but didn't want to start a new thread to do that.
So. I think I understand where you are coming from. I frequently post in 'Bottoms', as it's a good place to check in with one another without sticking to one topic. I hope you drop in and post there or on the Newbie bus, it's a great way to open up and have a bit of fun while we trudge this road together.

Hi Saxony, those threads can seem cliquey at first but its just cos people have got to know each other over time.
If you jump in and post you will find you are welcomed and included.

Thanks for the replies, I will try and pop on the bus later when I have a bit more time, I have a friend coming over shortly and I guess I better go and tidy up a teeny bit as the house looks like a bomb site at the moment

Sax

(day 9, yay)

Pat that isn't nice!

Well I guess that there are many of those here. It usually has to do with the first topic such as this thread! This might be one of those that has many parts to it also.

I have posted a lot but only a few has different parts. I guess this post helps me also....Keep coming back and posting.

If not here there and everywhere. Cyber family!

If you like music check out the CIU thread (Crank It UP!)

Saxony,

Day 9 Wow!!

As others have said, some of the threads are a place where people can quickly check-in on their SR friends. You are welcome to post anywhere you like, of course and I hope you feel comfortable reading and posting.

Congrats on 9 days Saxony! I'm glad you found SR. It's a wonderful place.

And when Dee said "idiots", he meant that in a nice way.

Another idiot :andy: here...

I'm Sherry..a raging alkie who by the tender Grace of God is sober and clean as of

6/8/06!

These forums have helped me more the last 5 months since I joined in March.

We are screaming for newcomers in the Hello Guests thread!

Also Party Party Party thread...they are more relaxed and we can take more time to

get to know ya.

You may want to visit a special forum to fit your needs...and there is always

someone (here) that you frelate to and can share a kind word of encouragement

with.

Don't be shy..we all were when we were new here....

Love,

IO

Sometimes we feel like a nut..sometimes we don't...

Maybe that's why they are called "Mars Bars"!
