A Quote...

"People in AA are generally too fundamentally broken to see that they've turned their lives over to an empty concept and a failed ideal".

Yeah I would like to know who at least is the author of that. I know that AA has been in a decline for a few years (since there are other alternatives) but I don't personally like to put any Program down if it is helping others. JMHO

Hi Fallgirl,

Thanks for the quote. What is your purpose for posting this? Just curious.

PS...aren't we all fundamentally broken?

Hmmm...
Decline? Not true for my AA home group.
We continue to add meetings that are well attended.

I see miracles and positive healing in each one.

FG...

Let's turn that one around and upside down...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"People in AA are generally too fundamentally broken to see that they've turned their lives over to an empty concept and a failed ideal".

All people in AA...were too fundamentally .. love the (mentally) part lol..

to see they've turned their lives over to an empty concept and a failed ideal.

AA teaches us that our belief sysgtem based on SELF is doomed to fail.

God knows we have tried this..

So, to me., that quote is neat..it reminds me (again) to build my sobriety

and life on spiritual principles as outlined in AA..

Thanks for sharing!

Love.

Hi FallGirl.

I am with the others and curious to know more about where it came from.

I have no problem admitting I am broken but I am less empty than I have ever been thanks to the programme and getting less broken every day.

Broken i might be, sometimes you have to breakdown and rebuild.
As the farmer toil his land or a contractor dig up the soil to reprocess
it, to build a stronger foundation before you can even laid concrete
or plant a seed. Deep in my heart a seed is plated. it takes time for
a seed to break ground, sometimes it gets very dark. Life reaches
for energy or sunlight...A higher power of some sort.

Even gold gose through a melting down process to get extracted,
reshape, reform before it looks all shiny and purdy.

I'm not that special, i guess. Life on life's terms.
If you're hard head like me...like a daimond. You get put on the grinding wheel.lol
Shine On... you crazy diamond. I love that song from pink floyd..lol

AA has also given me a new pair of glasses.
Read between the lines...there's nothing between the lines.
Where there's nothing there's silent
Where there is silent there is peace.
Where there's peace there's love.
where there's love, there's god.

Do not confuse peace with boredom, it's bit hard at first yes i know.
What da hell am I going to now...no more dramma..lol

call it what you will, beliving in it or not, I do not have to
look into the bottle to fine peace, love and joy.
Maybe there's not a god, but freaken O will...it's a lot better for an ex-drunk like me.

Never been a fundamenalistm becuase i do things backwards.

Be still and know that i'm god.
Be still and know.
Be still
BE

A human BEING is an experince,
don't miss out on it just to go catch a buzz.

what works works. If you have something to say then please say it FallGirl if not then why are you posting this?

I too see no decline in AA or NA and I imagine all the other programs are doing well at this time too, just take a good look around your local community.

The statistics that are out says that AA has fallen drastically in the last 6 years. That doesn't mean that it doesn't work. I know that I do very little AA but I do a lot of NA which is based off of AA and for that NA and other 12 Step Groups are truly grateful.

I have to look at it like this. We are all on a journey hopefully headed to the top of the mountain. There are many paths to the top, but we each must find what works for each of us. It is like my counselor said. "In recovery, we have a pie, and each time a piece of our recovery pie is gone, we must fill it up with something else. I know that for me I must keep moving forward.

All I know is that NA/AA might not need me, but I need them and for that I am truly grateful that they are around.

Vic......please post the source of the statistics you mentioned.
I have not seen or heard of this information

I think it's only fair to source if you make factual references
such as you did.

I am completely in the dark...turn on the light
Thanks!
