18 months

i would like to acknowledge God's work in raising me from the dead on January 29, 2006. i have remained connected to God by making meetings, getting a sponsor, working steps, having service commitments, praying, and reading the Big Book.

age 25: hopeless, homeless, lonely, suicidal 125-pound degenerate alcoholic heroin addict stealing food to survive and completely cut off from family.

age 27: hopeful, happy, physically/mentally/spiritually healthy, 155-pound, broker for B of A, walking with his degree in spring and close with family.

this program works. i am not the same person i used to be.

Year 1990...Month Feb.

30 yrs old

...Horrible accident at 2am. Hit
a concrete culvert ...hospitaled
10 days....numerous broken bones,
contusions, removal of puncture
spleen so i wouldnt bleed to death.

Aug. 1990

Progression of the disease of alcoholism
was rapid...tried to end my life.

Family intervention takes place.
28 day stay in rehab.
Recieved tools and knowledge of my
disease.
Set on the path of recovery.

July 2007

Age 48

Still a Memeber of Alcoholic Anonymous

Still have acceptance that I am powerless
over people places and things and desire to
stay sober one day at a time.

AA works if you work it.

By the Grace and Guidance of my HP
from Above. Remaining teachable
turning my will and life over to the
car of Him on a daily bases.

Continueing to share my Experiences,
strengths and hopes with those willing
to listen ....

AA works if you work it....

And that's the way it works for me.

Thanks for letting me share.

CONGRATS TO YOU for 18 mos. and
ALL who are on their paths of recovery.

Thumbs up

Chicago...

Your post is so inspiring...not only for your length of sobriety and clean time..

but for the tremendous example of how the program has enabled you to stay

clean and sober and regain new life the "monster" tried to steal from you.

You are showing us how the proram works if you work it!

Happy 18 months...

Keep goin'!!!
