I am new and don't know some of the lingo. I am not sure I need to be here but I would like to be sober for 30 days in a row. I'm doing ok and better then usual but I still have the occasional weekly slip. Perhaps by sharing with others I can gain strength.

It's a one day at a time deal, queen. If I can make it to bed tonight without taking a drink, I can wake up tomorrow and do it all over again. It's worked for me for the last 2 1/2 years, but I couldn't have done it without AA.
Welcome, glad you're here and I hope you keep coming back.

I felt the same way about my first AA meetings, thinking they were some sort of religious cult. Then I learned that I was the one with the closed mind. You might try some different meetings, they're not all alike.
