I think listen to stair way to heaven backwards messed me up.
if you listen to another bites the dust backwards it say
smoke MJ..
but heck..i'm lazy and listen to VH running with the devil
and Ac/Dc highway to hell or have a drink on me..forward.
i used to listen to those relaxations tapes when i go to
bed...but after a while they just kept me up.lol
I dad got hypnotized to stop smoking, he said..
but he stills drinks like a fish and can be a total butthead.
so beats the heck out of me ?
but i heard a lot of folks tell me that i have to change
the way I live also in order for me to stay stopped drinking.
I think recovery is about learning how to think own my own.
make my own decisions and be responsible for them
if it was that simple...i think the government or GW would sent
a bounch of sub bilminal messages over the air waves
on some frenquency you and I don't know about or not
allowed to used.
well..there's always cable. The beer companies dose that
straight up..lol

Im thinking conspiracy theory. maybe there are subliminal messages going through the TV and radio telling us to get high. Sponsored by alcohol manufacturers and pharmaceutical companies.
I once read somewhere that it is the oil companies, arms manufacturers and pharmacetical companies that influence government policies more than any voters do.
Anyway I got a little off the subject. I have never come across any subliminal tapes addressing addiction. Even if their wer some does anyone think they would work. i think we would have a better chance through hypnosis.
GLASSPRISONER what address should I send that $20 to.

I believe that the tapes only work if one believes they'll work. Most of the time the only work that works is the marketing and the money going into the marketer's bank account.
I wish there was a quick fix for Recovery. But isn't that how we addicts and alkies were, looking for that one fix to make it all better? No matter the cost? The truth is, and this is hard won from personal experience, that it takes real work to make it happen. And sometimes it's as simple to get started as with a phone call.
And boy sometimes even that very first phone call can be quite the challenge. I struggled for a year to finally pick up that phone and start from Step One. Again, if we don't do anything then nothing happens.
Y'know, it's been a long time since I dealt with audio tapes. I may brush off the old tape recording equipment and create my own tapes. They'll be real simple 90-minute tapes that repeat the messages, "Go to a meeting, talk to your sponsor, read the Big Book, work all the 12-Steps".
And I'll test them on myself first.
Keep coming back.
Yours in Recovery, Mark B.
