Still Struggling

I've had my good days! That I won't deny, however, I'm still struggling specifically with sleep. I am pretty much doing without no drug assistance. I stopped taking the clonazepan about 3 weeks ago and I hadn't been taking it for too long so my withdrawls from that were not that severe. Now I'm trying to do it naturally, but every night is a struggle. Sometimes things go o.k., but sometimes like last night they don't. Is this common to experience stuff like this at 71 days sober. I just want some consistency with sleep.

P.S. I had suffered some bouts of insomnia from time to time but not this prolonged (4 months) and this erratic.

Are you aware of this?

Perhaps that is the cause.

71 days..that's great!

Taking calcium before bed each night causes sleepiness and helps you get a good nights sleep....and it's good for you as well! Try getting a calcium/magnesium supplement!

Take care

You mentioned doing it naturally - what does that entail? For me, melatonin or valerian both work well when I am having difficulty sleeping. I agree with the suggestion to try cal/mag at bedtime, that also seems to help.
I try not to watch any TV late at night, and to take a bath before bed. I also spray my bedsheets with lavender scent occasionally - it's very soothing.
With your history of insomnia, it's hard to say how long this particular bout will last. Well done on getting through it sober and without the clonazepam. Hang in there, and hopefully you'll get some relief soon.

Yup, 71 days sounds about right.Congrates, BTW. I remember having a lot of insomnia then. Do you itch when trying to go to sleeep ? I did. I still do get insomnia from time to time, but it's usually because I'm drinking Joe at 9:00 PM.

Yes I happen to itch somewhat. I itch around my mouth and nose as I'm falling asleep. Also, I had a bout of itching all over my body about 2-3 weeks ago. I remember it lasted for about a week.

Insomnia concerns me because of my job. I work 24 hour out on location and need to be well rested just in case of emergencies. Also, I've been working at this job for 12 years and I don't remember a case of insomnia that lasted for more then 24 hours. I was always able to turn on and off like a switch. I did have bouts of insomnia as a teenager and young adult (16-23 years), but it had seem like I had outgrown them. Plus I don't remember any insomnia episode back then lasting this long.

I guess I'm just frustrated about the effects of long term withdrawl.

Anyway thank you all for your responses and suggestions.

I know I need to get some sleep too.
Insomnia sucks.
Congrats on 71 days. That is awesome.
Like all things..This will pass too.
I take melatonin too..but sometimes makes me really groggy all the next day.
Good job on trying the natural approach.
Hope you get some sleep soon.
