New again-and I need to get connected

Hi-
I joined this site back in 2005. I have been sober (again) just over 6 months.
I was part of another recovery site that just doesn't feel "right" anymore.
It doesn't matter why, the bottom line is I am not getting what I need to grow in recovery.
I am hoping that I can connect with other people here that endorse a 12 step program as their means of recovery.
I am involved with face to face meetings, however I really want to get connected with an on line group as a supplement to myexisting recovery plan.
Thanks.

Hi Cali,

Welcome back!

This is a great place to visit for support and inspiration. There is also lots of information here. I'm not a 12-step person, but have found great support here for my recovery from alcohol addiction.

Hi Cali! SR has been a wonderful addition to my 12-Step program and daily AA meetings. It's given me a way to stay connected throughout the day. Glad you're here!

WOW--thank you so much for the ever-so-prompt welcomes--I appreciate
it so so much! I am going to re-acquaint myself with the site--it may take a bit to be able to navigate again but I'll get it.
Thanks again!

Welcome cali

... why the mention of the other site if it doesn't matter why? Is there a resentment? Don't answer that publicly please... I don't have to ever hear the answer to that question... I pose it only for you. If you feel the need to share the answer I will listen (pm)...

What do you think you need to grow in recovery?

This is a great! community of online folks... and plent of 12 step folks here...

Hey Cali!

6 months is great! I used to be a aprt of another recovery site as well. I thought it was very helpful but kept straying from why we are here. Hey, different strokes... I'm on day 4 here and starting to feel somewhat "normal".

How many times a week do you go to meeetings? How many when you first started?

Keep it up.

Deb-
Nope-no resentments thank goodness--I interjected that just to share a bit of info as to what brought me back here. As far as growing in recovery, I believe I will do the bulk of that face to face however like I said-it is important for me to feel that I have a place to come to on line and let people get to know me in addition to my face to face plan. Thanks for replying

OTA great job on 4 days!
Thanks Lolli

(edited for spelling)

Hi Cali Glad you are back.
i know what you mean about connecting.
I tried other online support and it was nothing like this board.
A little cold in a way on the others.
I love this one and everyone here.
I feel so comfortable here and hope you will too.

Hello Cali,

An oldtimer once told me one of the secrets to a proper recovery is to "find the winners and stick with them" I've only been around these parts for 6 months, from what i've read here, I would classify this group as WINNERS.......It is always nice to hear from a newbie or is that a born-again newbie....

Work Hard and Enjoy life........NED

Yeah, but you keep coming back, right? ;-)

We don't shoot our wounded. There's always room for more in recovery.

Hi Cali,

So sorry I'm late - welcome back to the boards I'm so glad that you're here.
I attend AA myself - coupled with SR, I've got my life back.

Thanks Rowan--I feel ok today--I have some decisions to make today-actually I have already made the decision, I just have to let it be known today. I am in MUCH better space about it now that I have reconnected with other recovering folks here.
Amazing what a few hours and several heartfelt posts can do
I am feeling really really grateful right now....

I'm glad to hear you're feeling such gratitude - it really helps with perspective sometimes, doesn't it?
Hope to see more of you on the boards!

I am off to my 2nd job--I only work this job on Friday's after my my regular job--

I have decided that I need to give up this Friday night job because I need to be at a meeting on Friday nights, period. I don't need this job $ wise, but I enjoyed helping this person. The bottom line, is I am realizing what I need to do to take care of myself today and keep sobriety my # 1 priority....

I am so relieved and comforted to be able to address this situation tonight with clairity and assurance that I am doing the right thing.
Thanks everyone for making me feel welcome and comfortable.

Thank goodness I reached out today. Thank you all!!!!
