A questio for Indigo

I see that you are a bee keeper and was wondering if you have noticed a decrease in the number of bees in your nests recently?

Bees are disappearing, mainly due to pesticides and the giant asiatic hornet that reached Europe in a consignment of pottery from China. These hornets can destroy a bee colony in about 45 minutes or less. We keep our bees away from pesticides and I have seen a few hornets in my area and have contacted the local association sending a hornet sample. Man depend on bees for their very survival, ie: pollination. We are trying to strengthen our hives by adding new couvains and various harmless treatments for other pests. Thanks for asking that very important question.

This year we have caught many wild swarms so we can build up the hives for the future.

thank you for explaining that. I too have been very concerned about the diminishing bee colony populations.

Thanks for the info. I am not a bee keeper, but I have seen afew news reports about the problem and read a few articles so I thouht I would ask someone with first hand experience.

From what I understand scientists are very concerned about the diminishing populations, and the effect a loss of bees have on the enviroment.
