Hi all, first off thanx 4 caring it realy helps to know i got you guys behind me.
I realy have got my head round why I drank yesterday and I have come to terms with it. I think I got caught up in a lie, and I had been so honest about everything, in all my actions for 133 days. The lie I fell for was that I could drink to get even for situations that wern't going my way and in doing so i would be ok, But as you all know we cant.
So now I need to work on myself on some of my character defects to hopefuly not get caught out again. The real bonus was that I felt like crap 2day physicaly and that showed me more than anything what it feels like to poison myself.
I guess ill get some sort of withdrawl but I just wanna get back to where I was. Back to the new freedom I'd found.

inabit chris

Yep, it's hard on the whole family....Too hard sometimes that we forget the big picture and knit pick and do the wrong things, it's not just one or the other...

Have you tried getting her to read the chapters in AAs Big Book to wives and the family afterward?

Hi bud.

Bumping this back up. I had an unpleasant experience in London, feels like my HP was just reminding me - "you're never out the woods, so don't think you are!" But I didn't drink, today. And for that, I'm grateful.

You're a Weller fan, I don't know if you've ever listened to the lyrics of this Jam classic since you came into the fellowship - first time I heard it after I was in AA I thought - is he talking about us?

ODAAT. The first drink does the damage. Wishing you peace.

Chris.....

May seem strange from the alkie here but.....

Have you given her her belated roses for Mother's Day?

Do you love her?

You might try holding her and telling her that......

Let's just say...I have been a codie and am a codie....

So I know what she's going thru as well.

I think she's terrified...you finally stopped and now she feels she is replaced

by people who "understand" you.

Love,

IO

Sounds like the grief my Ex gave me when I decided to change my outlook on life. One more reason she's an EX!!!

Best of luck, Mate!

Thanx Storm, well she is deffinatley confused, its as you say the new me was an obvious threat to what she had got used to as the norm for so many years.
When drinking I guess I was pretty predictable, walk in drunk, drink till i fell asleep only to wake if I needed to top up. Then go to work the next day without fail only to come home repeating what I did for like 20 yrs. But sober there I was, I'd got my own opinions on family matters, and could always remember the day befores conversations. Rather than just going along with what she wanted so as to keep a happy equilibrium and having to rely on what she decided to tell me as to my previous days behaviour.
As far as roses well some things cant ever change even in recovery. lol

Steve I was told not to make big life changing decisions in early recovery, but I'm taking notes mate, lol

Hey Chris,

Sorry, didn't mean to suggest anything, I know it's more complicated than that. I think you may want to give the Storm (ake codie...lol) approach a try first. Trust me, the whole business of changing wives can be real messy. I tried a lot of things before I had to do what had to be done.

Anyway, congrats on your sober time and your recovery, we love success stories here, inspires us all!

Yep you got it Steve! 139 - 1 is the way i'm trying to look at it, i'm just starting to feel guilt for that one day. I was dealing with it easier during the first part of this week but just today it's starting to bother me, or perhaps its my alkie head trying to give me a reason for drinking. I've just got to keep watch on myself for a while till it passes.
