help i cont make myself stop using pot. every few months i lie to my husband and desperately try to contact someone who can give me some weed. this addiction has helped me to cheat on my husband and lose his trust. i want to stop this so bad but im afraid he wont forgive me this time and just give up on me. this has been going on for the last two years. i keep thinking that i need some type of intensive rehab or something, i dont know what to do or how to go about asking for help. im embarrassed so so so embarrassed. humiliated and i hate myself so much for turning into my dad. he was an alcoholic all through my life and hed leave and go on binges for days at a time come home and wed all forgive him and pretend it didnt happen. this is the cycle so far with my addiction. how can i stop this. i am so desperate to not lose my husband or my kids.
Hi acvrigg,
welcome - this is a good place with lots of help and support. Here are a couple of links I found on Google for someone else here who's going through the same thing you are - I found both these to be very helpful:
Detoxing from marijuana - physical and emotional symptoms to expect
and tips on how to deal with them -
http://www.marijuana-anonymous.org/Pages/detox.html
(you might want to check out the whole Marijuana Anonymous site - lots of really helpful stuff -
http://www.marijuana-anonymous.org/)
36 page guide on quitting marijuana (PDF)
http://www.edas.org.au/docs/cannabis.pdf
I think the most important thing with any addiction is to work out why you're wanting to get high - boredom, fear, running away from something, whatever - once you work that out, it might be easier to find other ways to cope ?

Welcome. It's good that you realize that you have a problem and that you aren't minimizing it because your drug of choice is weed. You can get help. I agree with tonytexas; check out some NA meetings. If there aren't any in your area, go to an AA meeting. Also, you might want to get the basic text for AA, the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions for NA, or the book Living Sober. Do you have a therapist with whom you can talk? Perhaps you can find an outpatient treatment center near you. Keep reaching out. Recovery is possible. Best wishes. Let us know how you're doing.
