Can't sleep

Hi everyone, My spouse and myself have just recently decided to quit drinking. Well that part is going ok during the day that is. At night neither one of can sleep at all. This has gone on now for about two weeks. Does anyone have any feed back on this subject?

Hi Laughing,

I'm glad you found this site. Sometimes I come here when I can't sleep - but I know that doesn't help the physical symptoms you must be experiencing. I drink herbal tea before bed, and take a hot bath sometimes. I also have taken valerian or melatonin (both natural herbals) to help me get to sleep. Try not to nap during the day, and try not to watch the news or anything stimulating like that before you settle in for the night. It takes time, but this is what helps me. Hope you keep posting - and others will be along shortly.

Rowan

I have tried the melatonin and it seems to wire me or make me grit my teeth all night. I will try the tea and hot bath. Is this a normal symptom of quitting drinking?
