Hi coopsdad,
Learning to recognize that 'addict voice' is a huge step toward recovery. Once you recognize it for what it is, you can learn to ignore it.
Congratulations on your 16 days!

That is really GREAT Coopsdad!!!
As you stay sober it will probably become more apparent to you that it is easier to stay sober when you have others you can contact who are in recovery also.
I know I found that after the alcohol had left my body I still had ME to deal with, and boy was i a mess, rofl. I soon learned that the "ism" of alcoholism is"
I = I
S = Self
M = Me
I also know that today there are many types of 'programs' (Guidelines) to help one deal with the "ism".
I truly hope for your recovery that you check some of them out. Of course, there is AA. But there seem to be so many more than that today. Smart Recovery, Lifering, are two that immediately come to mind.
Please keep posting and let us know how you are doing, we do care. Ask questions, rant, vent, whatever you need to help you stay in recovery.
Again congrats on your 16 days!! You are on the brink of a fascinating new life. Stick around it does get Better and Better and Better!!!
