Don't get stuck

I Just "read around the board" for a while. I went to places I don't usually go and read some different threads. It was good... I was able to "see myself" again. I have been getting a bit placed (I hope that's the right word). I have even been questioning why I quit drinking at all. Well after about an hour of reading I remembered how and why I ended up here almost 10 month ago.. I even took a few "quizzes" i found posted and passed.... not in a good way.

Just a note to the many of us that seem to stay planted in just a couple of threads or one or two forums... i am sure I am not alone.... there is a whole board of information waiting for you out there.... read it sometime!

Oh. and don't worry I'll be staying sober....

You are absolutely right NYCGirl!

It is always good to get a different perspective and to challenge yourself by looking into areas you have previously skipped. You will always be inspired!

I started doing the same thing. I tend to stay away from the alcohol ones for some reason. I am and never was drinker. But my dad ,grams, and gramps were all alcoholics. It affected me alot growing up. My dad is 20 yrs sober grams about 13 yrs and unfortunately my gramps died.
But I have been lurking in unfamiliar postings lately as well. It is good to see different problems and affects of people. It is a learning experience.

Yep, Yep, Yep.

That is why I continue to work with newcomers. They are a great reminder of where I came from, and what I had to go through to get where I am today.

Long before I started sponsoring anyone (with my sponsor's approval) I made a point of greeting new people that came through the doors of one of my regular meetings. And yes, I did it for selfish reasons, IT HELPED TO KEEP ME SOBER.

I too, like Kevin, did the H & I work, was a GSR, was secretary of different meetings over the years, official greeter at several of the "big" meetings I attended (300 or more at a meeting),and treasurer too, that was a biggie for me, I was so lax with my own money until I learned to budget, I was scared to death to handle the 'meeting money.' All good services to help me stay sober.

Kevin you are certainly on a "great" path of recovery, just remember there can be and probably will be bumps in the road, lol and I imagine instead of alligators its probably crocs up to your butt, lol, but..........................just keep trudgin.

NYCgirl, its good that you are checking out some of the other forums on SR, it will certainly give you more insight into how far out abuse of chemicals spreads to others and how we hurt others.

Great thread!!! Thanks for starting it.

Love and hugs,
