Hey topetah,

how are you today?

By the way, im right there with carol in saying - give up? WHY?

Im a recovered addict (crack ++). I had a real desire to quit. Despite my decision to quit, and a 21 day stay in rehab, which i checked myself in too... I used the second day out. Basicly the same thing as you. Found some laying around the apartment i was moving out of.. I was defenseless,

Im not defensless today. With a few years of abstinance under my belt, ive been going to 12 step meetings. The cravings passed. The obsession is gone now. The step work and also the support of others recovered around me has changed my outlook on life.

I had a couple relapses in the first couple years. I guess i had to prove that once i picked up the first one, the second one would follow.... It does.

Its not the self knowledge that keeps me from picking up the first one, though. Its acceptance on a deep level that im still powerless over the first one.

You've just proved that to yourself with this lapse. Its a valuable lesson.

you dont have to use to prove it. Remember it.

We do recover.

Jason-
Sorry to hear about your troubles.DON"T GIVE UP...I hate to use this saying from a public service announcement but it goes without saying:

As long as there is breath in your body, there is hope!

I have had to divert myself from a couple of dinners at "happy hour" restaurants just because it would be too easy to just order those 2 for 1 glasses of wine...I can;t say what I would do if I found a spare bottle of something in the house. I would definitely do my best to toss it the minute I saw it and wave at it as it went down the twa-let..
Well, anyway-keep posting, the fact that you come back and unload is GOOD!
Reach out to some one-maybe family is not always the way to go-they may not understand totally-I just hope you do not give up on your self-you are worth saving-you have things to offer this world and your son!!
Take care of yourself!!
Melissa
