Hi. Nine days without a drink. I am glad I found this site and hope to get to know my way around here. Attended first AA meeting last night. I walked in terrified, but that all seemed to change a few moments into the meeting. I know it is only nine days, but this is by far the best I have felt in years. Good luck to others in my shoes.

Nine days IS great!
We all start at the same place: Day ONE. DAY ONE was hardest for me because it was the day when I accepted that I couldn't beat alcohol, that it controlled all aspects of my life, and that I wasn't going to quit alone.
Welcom to SR. I'm sure your experiences here will be as positive and informative as mine.

Congrats on the 9 days, AA saved this drunks life as it has done for many others, as they said at the meeting "Keep coming back", both to SR & AA.
Next time you go to a meeting (sooner the better) ask someone about a temporary sponsor.

Thanks to all for the encouragement and advice. So far so good but I suspect some very tough times are coming. Today was my best day at work in a long, long time. I have not had any absences or anything. Just my attitude was the best it has been. I definitely hope I can keep that going. Again, thanks to all for the encouragement and welcoming me in.
9 days is awesome!! be proud of it! one day at a time...

Awesome
9 days is awesome!!! I WISH I could get to 9 days---I have hit only 5 at the highest--I have not been able to make it through the weekend. I always say "I can go to the bar and people watch without drinking." If that were possible, why haven't I done that yet?

Today is 14!! I have gotten a lot out of the (few) meetings I have attended in the last week. Everyone seems very positive. Seems that way on here as well. I have not read anything yet that is negative, and I feel that helps me everytime I sign on here. So Thanks!! to everyone for the positive attitudes and uplifting spirits.
