Gay AA
Hi Person197, Welcome to the forum, you will feel very welcome here.
People are very helpful and supportive here.
I'm hope3 and I am a recoverying alcoholic, 83 days and I am so glad I found this site...I'm also gay in a happy 18 year relationship.
I think Carol is right, try both meetings, if you feel comfortable...I don't know how homophobic your area is or isn't. We all have relationship problems, addiction problems, and many others. Even if we are gay, basic problems are still just that problems.
I wish you a smooth recovery, and keep comming back> ((((((((hope3))))))))

As a gay and sober member of Alcoholics Anonymous, I welcome you to a new way of life. While similarities abound across all alcoholic communities, I have found that it is easier for me to be totally open and honest in gay meetings. While I have found all meetings very accepting, there is always a slight bit of worry associated with attending new straight/mixed meetings. I have found that AA works best for me when I am uncensored. It's easier to be so when I am not worrying about shocking or offending someone who does not agree with or understand our lifestyle. By the way, I have been to a couple of gay meetings in Phoenix as a visitor and the people there were awesome. Give it a try and see how you like it.
Hi person, sounds like a lot of good and different angles to look at in your
decision, I have to agree with everyone. You'll know which meets you feel more comfortable in, the main thing is to get into a program that is supportive and a continued sorce for your recovery, thats all then.
Have a great sober day! (((((((hope3)))))))))
