Well, i was at a bar/restaurant tonite for a political function. I think all politicians drink. The voices were after me and so were my friends. Seeing empty hands, they all wanted to get me a drink. I made up lame excuses like "not yet" and "need to go home soon to help daughter w/ homework". Ironically, it was no big deal in the past to come home loaded and help w/ homework. I think maybe it would have been better to immediately get a soda or water from the bar to "fit in" and not be harassed. What do others do? Anyway, I walked out of there without quitting and without hitting a bar on the way home for a quick 6 pack booster for the car ride home-something I often did in the past. I know attending functions where alcohol is served is not the smartest thing, especially with not even a month under my belt, but it is all around me. I'd love to put my head in the sand, but that's impossible, so the only alternative(at least in my foggy brain), is to face it head on, be strong and Don't Quit!! I also liked that suprised look on my wifes face when she smelled no booze. It helps that she is starting to believe me-after about 10 less than half serious prior attempts. Be strong-don't quit.

I usually get my club soda with a splash of cranberry and lime in a cocktail glass. It's easier just to let people assume what they want- and it keeps them off your a$$. Strange how it is so hard for other people when you don't drink.....

Yes I remember well Arura, used to walk down to Duckworth from there to deliver material. I enjoyed living up there.
