First timer please be kind
First time I've posted, my son has been in recovery for about 6 months. me I'm not sure I'll ever recover from all of this. He managed to finally get himself arrest, not once not twice but three times in one week. Off to jail he went, thank god because I'm sure he'd be dead otherwise. You think jail is so awful but you come to realize it's better than planning a funeral. He's in an intense program now. It's court administered and it's tough. It seems to be working, he'll be in it for atleast another 6 to 12 months then probably another year on probation. He's been talking about going to school and has heard from some of the counselors that there is grant/scholarship money for recovering addicts. Does anyone know if this is true and how to find them. I've searched the web but I'm not coming up with anything. Thanks!!
I've had OVR services in the past based upon my status as a "substance abuser," and if I remember correctly, they had a clean-time requirement. (OVR=Office of Vocational Rehabilitation)
You might want to check out our "Friends & Family" forum. There's a lot of support specifically for family members and loved ones there who've been through all sorts of situations.
I have a sponsee who's son is in jail, and there were many nights she feared she'd be planning a funeral. I'm glad you haven't had to.
Peace & Love,
Sugah

I don't have an answer to your question - and I am guessing it varies from state to state, and maybe even by different school districts.
You may want to touch base with an youth alcohol counselor at your local youth rehab - they generally have lots of resources.
((hugs)) And welcome!!
